Job Description

Seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic student-worker to support the Athletic Communications department. This role involves assisting with social media management, game day operations, statistics recording, and broadcast production for all home athletic events on campus. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, reliable, and passionate about sports and communications.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Social Media Management:

    • Assist with creating and scheduling content for various social media platforms (e.g., Twitter, Facebook, Instagram).
    • Help to implement social media strategies to enhance the visibility of athletic programs.
  2. Game Day Setup and Breakdown:

    • Assist with the setup of venues for home athletic events, including arranging equipment, setting up media areas, and ensuring all necessary materials are in place.
    • Help with post-game breakdown, including disassembling equipment and cleaning up the venue.
  3. Statistics Recording:

    • Accurately record and update game statistics for all home athletic events.
    • Ensure timely and precise data entry to support game reports and post-game analysis.
    • Collaborate with coaches, players, and other staff to gather and verify statistics.
  4. Broadcast Production Assistance:

    • Support broadcast production efforts, including camera operation, audio equipment setup, and live-streaming tasks.
    • Assist with technical troubleshooting and ensure smooth operation of broadcast equipment during events.
    • Help prepare and organize broadcast materials and equipment before and after events.

 

Job Requirements
  • Current Iona University student with a strong interest in sports and communications.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and basic content creation tools.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Basic knowledge of sports statistics and game operations preferred, but not required.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and able to handle high-pressure situations.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required by athletic event schedules.
  • Previous experience in athletic communications or broadcast production is a plus.
