Position Overview

As a Certa Scholar Student Associate at Iona University, you will engage in a unique learning experience designed to enhance your academic, leadership, and professional skills in a partner area Catholic school. Certa Scholars are selected students who demonstrate exceptional academic performance, a commitment to service, and a desire to make meaningful contributions within the university and the community. This role provides opportunities for professional growth, networking, and skills development through various projects and activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Academic Mentorship: Assist in mentoring other students in your field placement,  offering academic support and guidance.
  • Leadership Development: Attend workshops and seminars aimed at building leadership, communication, and team-building skills.
  • Project Collaboration: Work collaboratively with fellow Certa Scholars on special projects designed to enhance the Iona University campus or surrounding community.
  • Professional Development: Participate in networking events, career workshops, and  other opportunities arranged by the Certa Scholars Program and your Catholic School placement.
  • In school placement- participate in all hours and activities as detailed by your Catholic School partner.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled as a student at Iona University
  • Awarded the status of Certa Scholar for the current academic year
  • Strong academic standing with a demonstrated commitment to personal and academic growth
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Demonstrated interest in community service, leadership, and professional development
