Commuter Assistant Program Purpose: The Commuter Assistant Program utilizes peer leaders for sustained commuter outreach and support. This program’s goal is to increase commuter awareness, involvement, and engagement in Iona’s campus community. Commuter Assistant Mission Statement: Through the Center for Student Engagement, Commuter Services is committed to educating students about the concept of community and their role as citizens in a global community. Under the Division of Enrollment and Student Affairs, the aim is to work ethically and collaboratively with other campus offices to support the Mission of Iona University. As well as actively collaborate with neighborhood associations, municipal leaders, local businesses, and commuter students to maintain a safe, high quality of life and a strong sense of community for all constituencies on-campus and in the greater New Rochelle community. The Commuter Assistant Program serves to: - Advocates for commuter students in the community and on campus.
- Educates residential and non-residential students about transitional issues faced by commuter students
- Works to keep off-campus and commuter students connected to the Iona community.
- Provides resources and services to commuter students.
